Ravena Privacy Policy

Welcome to Ravena’s Privacy Statement.

Ravena attaches the greatest importance to the trust reposed in our platform and undertakes to be fully transparent in the management of personal data. Ravena provides a free service through which users may locate, watch, share and browse trending user-submitted video content at no charge. This statement describes every category of data we collect, the reasons for such collection, how your information is used and shared, and all legal rights you hold in respect of your personal data. We employ clear, straightforward language and refrain from needlessly complex legal terminology so that all provisions remain readily understandable to users.

Applicable Scope

This privacy statement shall apply to all websites, mobile apps and online services operated under the Ravena brand (collectively referred to as our “Services”). The core purpose of our Services is to permit users to discover viral user-generated videos, to view, share and explore all content free of charge. A link to this statement is included on every relevant service page. Should any individual service maintain its own separate privacy policy, that specific policy shall take priority over the rules contained in this document.

Types of Data We Collect

In order to enhance the experience of discovering, streaming and sharing popular user-uploaded videos, we collect information relating to your identity, your activity on our Services, and data obtained from external third-party sources. Full particulars are provided below.

Data You Provide Directly

When you use Ravena, certain personal information may be communicated by you to our platform at your discretion, including:

  • Account Sign-Up: As mandatory base details, your phone number, email address, gender, date of birth and the custom choices you make for trending video genres or content categories shall be collected.
  • Profile Setup: You may optionally add further information such as your video viewing habits, personal biography, hobbies, personal photos, and any video files you upload to the platform. To upload media, whether video clips or profile pictures, you may be required to grant Ravena access to your device camera, built-in microphone (necessary for videos with audio), or your device’s photo and video storage.
  • Payment Information: Should optional premium features be launched in the future, or should you make direct in-platform purchases (transactions processed through third-party marketplaces such as the iOS App Store and Google Play Store being excluded), we shall collect payment details such as debit or credit card information through our vetted payment service providers.
  • Surveys and Promotions: All particulars furnished by you upon participation in surveys, focus groups, contests or marketing campaigns appertaining to our video Services.
  • Customer Support Interactions: Information imparted by you when you approach our support team for assistance, such as remedying playback faults or login difficulties.
  • Third-Party Contact Information: Where you enter other people’s contact details to use friend invitation features, we shall process this data on your behalf. We also store your chat history and all content published by you to ensure that our platform Services operate reliably and securely.

Data Received From Third Parties

  • Other Platform Users: Details shared by fellow community members, including violation reports touching upon your uploaded videos or your publicly posted comments.
  • Social Media Platforms: Information procured upon your login to Ravena through third-party social accounts, including Facebook and Google, or upon your importation of content from platforms such as Instagram — the reposting of Instagram short videos to Ravena being an exemplar.
  • Business Partners: Information originating from our partner networks that accommodate our advertising placements, together with data flagging suspected malicious user accounts supplied by external third parties, insofar as such sharing accords with applicable local law.

Automatically Collected Data

  • Usage Activity Logs: Records of how you interact with our video Services, including login times, features used (video playback, content sharing, trending topic searches), your engagement with other creators’ videos (likes and comments), and your interaction with advertisements shown to you.
  • Device Information: Precise particulars relating to the hardware and software of your device, comprising your public IP address, unique device identifier, app settings preferences, advertising tracking IDs and cookie identifiers.
  • Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies: We employ these tracking tools to recognise your device and deliver personalised browsing experiences, for example by remembering your custom video preference settings. At present, our platform does not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals, as no unified industry standard for such signals exists.
  • Third-Party Software Development Kits: Integrated tools including Google AdMob, Firebase and external attribution SDKs may collect device identifiers and user activity data in support of targeted advertising and platform performance analysis.

Data Collected With Your Express Consent

  • Precise Location Data: This data shall be collected only after you have given clear consent. Background location collection may continue where permitted by your device’s system settings. Declining location access may disable location-related features, such as browsing trending videos created by creators in your local area.
  • Photo ID Verification: Facial measurement data (classified as biometric personal data in some regions) is used to verify user identity. A key application is the prevention of fake accounts uploading misleading or deceptive video content.
  • Additional Uploaded Media: Photographs or videos tendered by you for your personal profile, or in connection with live streaming and content sharing capabilities.

How We Use Your Personal Information

All collected user data is used to provide, improve and protect our video-focused platform Services, as well as to display personalised advertising to you. The full range of our purposes for using data is set out below.

A. Account Management and Core Service Provision

  • The creation and maintenance of your official Ravena user account.
  • The rendering of customer support and the resolution of all service-related enquiries, for example the rectification of video playback issues.
  • The despatch of platform update notifications, the establishment of pricing for future premium feature packages, and the processing of all payment transactions.

B. Video Discovery and Social Interaction

We recommend trending videos from other creators that correspond to your content preferences, and permit other users to view videos uploaded by you, subject to your privacy settings. We further provide search functions for locating videos on specific topics, together with interactive tools for content sharing and public commenting.

C. Development of New Features

Your profile, uploaded videos and content preferences may be showcased on newly introduced Ravena features or companion mobile applications consistent with our core video-sharing mission. Unified account management across all new platform offerings shall likewise be enabled.

D. Advertising and Marketing

We measure the performance of our advertising campaigns and conduct platform promotions, for example informing users about new video editing features. We also send marketing communications concerning products or services that we consider may interest you, based on your video browsing habits and use of Ravena.

E. Ongoing Service Improvement

User feedback surveys shall be despatched, community engagement with video content on the platform shall be analysed, and new features such as more precise video recommendation algorithms shall be developed. Customer support records shall likewise be examined to elevate overall service quality, with particular emphasis on diminishing video upload failure resolution times.

F. Platform Security and Legal Compliance

Fraudulent conduct, such as fake accounts uploading stolen copyrighted video content, shall be detected; our Terms of Service shall be enforced; and cooperation with law enforcement shall be extended where formal legal requests so demand. Data relating to platform rule violations shall also be retained to forestall repeated misconduct across our user community.

Legal Basis for Data Processing

Personal data shall be processed by our platform upon four distinct legal grounds:

  • Contract Performance: The administration of your registered account and the provision of all core platform Services, embracing each purpose enumerated in sections A through C above.
  • Legitimate Interests: The operation of targeted advertising campaigns, the refinement of platform functionality and the preservation of community security, embracing each purpose enumerated in sections D through F above.
  • Legal Obligation: Conformity with binding legal requirements levied by regulatory authorities, such as responses to court orders and official information requests.
  • User Consent: Processing sensitive personal data, for example video preference tags marked by you as fully private, or enabling specific restricted data collection features such as precise location tracking. You hold the full right to withdraw your consent at any time through in-app settings or by contacting our support team directly.

When We Disclose Your Personal Information

Disclosure to Other Platform Users

Your public profile and all content set by you to public visibility (including videos marked “Public” and public comments) shall be visible to other Ravena users, governed entirely by your privacy settings. Where another user reports content published by you for policy violations, we may send updates concerning our handling of the report to the user who submitted it.

Disclosure to Service Providers and Business Partners

Third-party vendors supporting daily platform operations, such as cloud video hosting providers and payment processors, may receive limited portions of your personal data. We share only encrypted, unreadable hash-formatted data with advertising partners so as to fully protect your privacy. All contracted vendors are required to observe strict non-disclosure agreements protecting all user information to which they gain access.

Built-In Sharing Features

The built-in sharing function permits you to transmit video clips or your profile page to external platforms beyond the Ravena ecosystem; disseminating trending videos via WhatsApp constitutes a familiar illustration.

Legal Proceedings and Corporate Transactions

Personal data may be disclosed during formal legal proceedings, such as compliance with court subpoenas, or upon a corporate merger, acquisition or bankruptcy restructuring, provided that such disclosure is mandated by law or forms an integral part of the transaction.

Disclosure With Your Explicit Approval

Your clear affirmative consent shall be obtained before any personal data is shared with external third parties for purposes unrelated to core platform operation. A partnership with brand partners to promote their exclusive branded video content series exemplifies such a case.

Aggregated Anonymized Data

Aggregate data rendered anonymous or encrypted by hashing — device hardware metadata and broad demographic statistics such as “users who watch music-related video content” — may be supplied to external partners in aid of targeted advertising and user behaviour analytics.

Cross-Border Data Transfers

Your personal information may be transferred to the United States or other countries whose data protection laws differ. Where personal data is transferred from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we employ standard contractual clauses approved by data protection authorities, or other legally recognised compliance mechanisms, to ensure consistent protection for all transferred personal data.

Your Rights and Control Options

In-App Account Tools

  • Access and Edit Your Data: Amendments to your profile details, such as refreshing your video content preference tags, or recourse to account settings for the modification of any personal information retained in your account.
  • Manage Device Permissions: Enable or revoke Ravena’s access to your device contacts, location sensor and camera through your mobile device’s system settings. Please note that disabling certain permissions will disable the corresponding platform features. For example, camera or photo gallery access must be enabled in order to upload video content to the platform.
  • App Uninstallation: The removal of the Ravena mobile application from your device shall not, of itself, delete your registered account. All stored personal data shall remain upon our platform’s secure servers.
  • Permanent Account Deletion: You may submit an account deletion request through the platform’s built-in settings. Following account deactivation, your public profile and all uploaded videos shall cease to be visible to other users, although we shall retain your personal records strictly in accordance with our data retention policy.

Legal Rights Based on Your Location

Depending on your place of residence, you may hold the following legal rights:

  • Right of Access and Data Portability: A complete copy of all personal data stored within your account may be requested, delivered in a machine-readable standard format such as a CSV file comprising your entire video upload history.
  • Right to Erasure: The permanent deletion of your personal data may be requested, save for limited legal exceptions that necessitate retention for compliance purposes.
  • Right to Rectification: Incorrect particulars within your profile may be set right, for instance by amending your custom video content preference categories.
  • Right to Object and Restrict Processing: Object to specific data processing activities or impose restrictions on certain data uses. One example is opting out of targeted advertising based on your behavioural data.

Identity verification documents may be requested prior to the fulfilment of any data rights request, so as to avert fraudulent submissions. Requests that contravene applicable local laws, are technically impracticable to fulfil, or would impinge upon the legitimate rights of other platform users may be declined. Residents of Virginia retain the right to appeal any rejected data rights request. Users within the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom may lodge complaints concerning our data handling practices with their local data protection authority.

Data Retention Periods

Personal data shall be retained by our platform solely for such duration as is required to accomplish business purposes or to satisfy legal compliance obligations:

  • Safety Retention Period: Three calendar months after your account is officially closed, or one full year after your account is permanently banned. This retention period permits our team to fully investigate potential harmful incidents connected to videos previously uploaded by you, such as prohibited harmful content.
  • Retention After the Safety Period:
  1. Mandatory Compliance Retention: Financial transaction records (retained for ten years), credit card payment details (preserved until all associated dispute resolution periods conclude), platform user activity logs (retained for one calendar year) and all user consent records (stored for five full years).
  2. Legitimate Business Needs: Customer support correspondence records (retained for five years), core metadata confirming the prior existence of your account (stored for three years subsequent to account closure), profile information (retained for one year to underpin potential future legal proceedings) and data pertaining to permanently banned accounts (stored indefinitely for the preservation of community safety).
  • Ongoing Legal Proceedings: All personal data connected with active legal claims or regulatory inquiries shall be stored securely until the pertinent dispute attains full resolution.

Privacy for Minors

Ravena’s full range of platform Services is intended exclusively for users aged eighteen years or older. We do not actively collect personal identifiable information from minors. Should you find an account operated by someone under the age of eighteen, please submit a violation report using the in-app reporting feature.

Minor Safety Policy

The mobile application is not directed at children below the age of eighteen, and personally identifiable data belonging to minors is never knowingly gathered.

We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, including any sexualised video content featuring minors. All users may report violating content directly through the in-app reporting tool. All reports involving child sexual exploitation material are reviewed by our moderation team as a priority, followed by appropriate action including full content removal and temporary or permanent account restrictions.

Upon confirmation that a minor’s personal data has been collected without valid parental consent, steps shall be taken forthwith to delete all such records in full from our secure servers.

Full cooperation with the pertinent authorities during formal investigations concerning child sexual abuse material shall be extended wherever local law demands it.

Queries or concerns respecting minor safety standards and minor privacy protection protocols should be directed to our dedicated support team at: [email protected]

The following steps shall be observed to permanently delete your registered Ravena account:

  1. Go to App Settings > Account Settings and choose the “Delete Account” option.
  2. Adhere to the on-screen prompts to commence the account deactivation and deletion process.

Upon submission of the deletion request, your account shall be deactivated forthwith. All stored personal data (uploaded videos and profile information included) shall be retained for a seven-day recovery period, should you wish to reinstate your account. Signing in again within those seven days shall cancel the deletion. Upon the expiry of the seven-day recovery period, all personal data shall be deleted permanently and irreversibly, affording no possibility of recovery.
